With more than 15 years of experience acquiring, operating, and improving multifamily properties across the United States, Matt has served as General Partner in over $675M of real estate spanning nearly 5,000 apartment units — navigating multiple markets and cycles to deliver disciplined, long-term results for his investment partners.
Before transitioning full-time into real estate, Matt spent nearly two decades leading teams at top New York advertising agencies, producing award-winning work for Fortune 500 brands including IBM, Visa, and Verizon. That background gave him something most real estate operators don't have: a deep fluency in strategy, storytelling, and the kind of honest communication that investors and partners come to rely on — shaping how he structures deals, communicates with investors, and helps others grow.
That perspective is also what inspired him to write Backstage Guide to Real Estate, the #1 best-selling book on the strategic principles behind scalable investing and smart capital partnerships — a resource designed for the investor who wants to understand not just what to do, but why it works.

Cindy Mirliss

In 2015, Cindy joined Kaliser & Associates as Lead Counsel, becoming Partner in 2019. She was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Dallas, Texas with her husband. She attended Boston University for her undergraduate degree and received her Juris Doctorate from Texas A&M University School of Law in 1995. She has worked for several of the largest firms in Dallas, including Baron & Budd, Jones Day, and McKool Smith, as well as in house counsel for Stream Energy. Her career has given her experience in several practice areas including real estate acquisitions, class action litigation, contract and employment law, mergers and acquisitions, family law, and estate planning. In 2015, she joined Kaliser & Associates as Lead Counsel. Cindy’s practice focuses on assisting clients with commercial real estate transactions, private securities fundraising, SEC syndications for multi-family projects as well as other commercial and real estate related projects, and wills and estate planning.
Jim Ross
CPA
Jim is a Partner at a specialized accounting firm called ProVision, based out of Phoenix, AZ. His expertise has helped many investors to achieve better tax efficiency through entity structuring, maximization of deductions, usage of tax elections and special designations, and various tax advantaged investing strategies. ProVision also prepares taxes for small businesses and their owners, including many multi-family real estate partnerships.


James Eng
James is the National Director for Old Capital Lending. Mr. Eng has over 15 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, starting his career as an underwriter at GE Capital Real Estate prior to joining Old Capital in 2015. He has worked with hundreds of investors to help them acquire over $1BN in multifamily properties totaling over 13,000 units nationwide. James combines his finance, risk, and investor background to find the best loan for clients and to be an indispensable advisor throughout the life cycle of a deal. Often called “The Professor” of Multifamily Financing, he has produced hundreds of hours of educational multifamily content on YouTube. He received his finance degree from University of Texas at Austin, and now resides in Dallas-Fort Worth with his wife and three boys.
