Matt Picheny

Founder & CEO

Matt Picheny is a real estate investor, operator, international speaker, and author focused on helping investors build durable wealth through strategic real estate ownership.

With over 15 years of experience acquiring, operating, and improving multifamily assets across the United States, Matt has invested in more than 12,000 apartment units nationwide. His approach centers on aligning capital, strategy, and community impact — creating opportunities designed for long-term performance and responsible growth.

In addition to leading real estate investments, Matt works closely with investors and emerging operators to develop capital strategies, positioning, and disciplined expansion plans. His perspective bridges institutional real estate and enterprise marketing, giving him a unique lens on how capital flows, how deals are structured, and how trust is built.

Before transitioning full-time into real estate, Matt spent 18 years in the advertising industry, leading teams at top New York agencies to develop award-winning projects for Fortune 500 brands, including IBM, Visa, and Verizon. That experience now informs how he structures investment narratives, refines thesis positioning, and builds enduring capital partnerships.

Matt holds certificates in Commercial Real Estate and Real Estate Finance from Boston University and is a PMI-certified Project Management Professional. He has been a member of the Forbes Real Estate Council and Fast Company Executive Board and was named “Best Multifamily Syndicator” by the American Apartment Owners Association.

He is the author of the #1 best-selling book Backstage Guide to Real Estate and a two-time Tony Award® winning Broadway co-producer of Moulin Rouge! and American Utopia. Matt and his wife have also invested in several other iconic productions, including Hamilton and Wicked.

A former actor and Orlando native, Matt now lives in Westchester, New York, with his wife and two daughters. He still believes in happily ever after — especially when capital is aligned with purpose.

Dustin Lockman brings more than fifteen years of experience in high-ticket enrollment and partnership development to the team. He leads prospect strategy and relationship building, helping serious operators and aspiring general partners align with the right mentorship to accelerate their success.

With a deep understanding of the multifamily investing landscape, Dustin guides Matt’s students in gaining clarity on their vision and the steps required to achieve it. Known for his data-driven approach, clear communication, and unwavering integrity, he fosters trust and confidence throughout the decision-making process.

By designing streamlined pathways and cultivating long-term partnerships, Dustin plays a key role in expanding our community and amplifying the impact of Matt’s coaching program.

Cindy Mirliss

Cindy Mirliss

In 2015, Cindy joined Kaliser & Associates as Lead Counsel, becoming Partner in 2019. She was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Dallas, Texas with her husband. She attended Boston University for her undergraduate degree and received her Juris Doctorate from Texas A&M University School of Law in 1995. She has worked for several of the largest firms in Dallas, including Baron & Budd, Jones Day, and McKool Smith, as well as in house counsel for Stream Energy. Her career has given her experience in several practice areas including real estate acquisitions, class action litigation, contract and employment law, mergers and acquisitions, family law, and estate planning. In 2015, she joined Kaliser & Associates as Lead Counsel. Cindy’s practice focuses on assisting clients with commercial real estate transactions, private securities fundraising, SEC syndications for multi-family projects as well as other commercial and real estate related projects, and wills and estate planning.

Jim Ross

CPA

Jim is a Partner at a specialized accounting firm called ProVision, based out of Phoenix, AZ. His expertise has helped many investors to achieve better tax efficiency through entity structuring, maximization of deductions, usage of tax elections and special designations, and various tax advantaged investing strategies. ProVision also prepares taxes for small businesses and their owners, including many multi-family real estate partnerships.

James Eng

James is the National Director for Old Capital Lending. Mr. Eng has over 15 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, starting his career as an underwriter at GE Capital Real Estate prior to joining Old Capital in 2015. He has worked with hundreds of investors to help them acquire over $1BN in multifamily properties totaling over 13,000 units nationwide.  James combines his finance, risk, and investor background to find the best loan for clients and to be an indispensable advisor throughout the life cycle of a deal.  Often called “The Professor” of Multifamily Financing, he has produced hundreds of hours of educational multifamily content on YouTube. He received his finance degree from University of Texas at Austin, and now resides in Dallas-Fort Worth with his wife and three boys.
